London Mixologist wins American Metalcraft’s national cocktail recipe competition

London based Mixologist Vitor Lourenco’s creation “Gin Lane” was voted top concoction by the team of Pro Foodservice Reps (PFR), representatives of American Metalcraft in the UK.

The competition was promoted via social media and attracted entrants from throughout the UK. Three finalists were selected by the PFR team based on originality, ingredients, flavour combination and presentation. Vitor’s Gin Lane was praised for its unique use of unusual flavours, including Perique tobacco liqueur and Kummel caraway seed, cumin and fennel liqueur. These smoky and spicy flavours were combined with stout and gin to produce a warming cocktail ideal for a chilly autumn evening.

Vitor, Bar Supervisor at the Rosewood Hotel in Covent Garden, was presented with an American Metalcraft antique copper cocktail shaker, jigger and four mini mule mugs by PFR Light Equipment Sales Manager Charlotte Deykin.

Runners up were Brandon Gatley, Middlesbrough with Black Forest Martini and Jordan Fry, Newcastle with Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

American Metalcraft introduces buffetware accessories to Vida Casa range

American Metalcraft has added more accessories to its Vidacasa temperature-controlled buffetware to diversify the line and enhance buffet presentations.

The range was first introduced in 2014 and is said to work independently of electricity, cords, gels, fire or ice to keep food hot or cold.

Completely modular, Vidacasa includes components that can mix and match with one another quickly to alter tablescapes.

The latest editions comprise stainless steel and wood crates hold one or two hot or cold cells. Stainless steel styles are available in solid satin or hammered finishes and also hammered open-frame designs. Wood crates are available in black, bamboo, natural and vintage colours. New bamboo frames fit over square or rectangular Vidacasa bases.

Furthermore, new porcelain serving vessels include a rectangular narrow-rimmed platter and square or rectangular bowls that are 2 ¾” deep. All porcelain pieces are designed to work with hot or cold cells to keep buffet food at optimal temperatures. American Metalcraft has also added an insulated carrying bag with six individual slots to transport hot or cold cells.

The Chicago based supplier is re-launching its UK business strategy which is set to see its products available to the trade, direct from the factory, supplied locally in Sterling for the first time.

American MetalCraft specialises in fine dining, catering, buffet service and pizza supplies for the foodservice industry.

Incorporated in 1947 by Archer Kahn, the company has functioned as a family-owned business for over 60 years

In 1995 David Kahn and Susan Kahn Bank took over the business, marking the transition to a third generation of family leadership.

American MetalCraft has grown from a limited product line and a local customer base to a company with customers in all 50 US states and over 75 countries around the world.

The company has evolved from a job shop to a manufacturer of over 2,000 items for its own product line as well as an importer of thousands of tabletop and kitchen supplies.

Lee Ann Kelly, vice president sales and marketing commented: “American MetalCraft is ecstatic to be partnering with Pro Foodservice Reps in the UK.
